Nominees

Andrew Hurwitz

Ninth Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals
Confirmed June 12, 2012

Arizona Supreme Court Justice Andrew Hurwitz’s nomination to the Ninth Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals was confirmed on a June 12, 2012 Voice Vote following a 60-31 cloture vote to end a filibuster the previous day.  He had the ”wholehearted support” of both of his home-state senators, Arizona Republicans Jon Kyl and John McCain.

On March 1, 2012, the Senate Judiciary Committee approved Hurwitz’s nomination on a 13-5 vote, with the bipartisan support of all Democratic senators and GOP Sens. Kyl, Lindsey Graham (SC) and Tom Coburn (OK).

Sen. Kyl said that the committee’s “overwhelming vote . . . will help to ensure that he (Hurwitz) will come up on the Senate floor in a timely fashion.”
