Srikanth ("Sri") Srinivasan
D.C. Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals
On May 23, 2013, after Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) filed a cloture petition to force a vote, the Senate agreed to a vote on the merits and confirmed Srikanth ("Sri") Srinivasan 97-0 to the 8th seat on the D.C. Circuit U.S. Court Of Appeals. This filled one of four vacancies on the 11-seat court and is President Obama's first D.C. Circuit judge.
June 11, 2012, President Obama nominated Srinivasan to the D.C. Circuit. Srinivasan's Judiciary Committee hearing was delayed from 2012 and again delayed from January 2012 at the request of the Ranking Member Chuck Grassley (R-IA), before it was finally held on April 10, 2013. The Committee unanimously approved his nomination on an 18-0 vote on May 16, 2013.
