Ninth Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals
President Barack Obama's Feb. 24, 2010 nomination of Goodwin Liu to the Ninth Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals garnered widespread support from public officials, law professors, the American Bar Association, editorial boards and published commentators, individuals and organizations, and Senators. On May 19, 2011, a 52-43 majority cloture vote fell short of the 60 votes needed to cut off a filibuster and to allow a yes-or-no vote.
