D.C. Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals
President George W. Bush first nominated Brett Kavanaugh to a lifetime seat on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit on July 7, 2003. The Senate Committee on the judiciary held a hearing on this nomination on April 27, 2004. On February 14, 2005, President Bush formally renominated Kavanaugh. On March 3, 2006, Democrats on the Senate Committee on the Judiciary requested a new hearing on the renomination. The Senate voted 57/36 to confirm on May 26, 2006.
