Priscilla Owen
Fifth Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals
On May 1, 2003, the Senate failed to end debate, as the 52-44 vote fell eight short of the 60 that would be needed to cut off an ongoing filibuster against Priscilla Owen's re-nomination to the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. On February 14, 2005, President Bush formally renominated Priscilla Owen to the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals. As part of the Senate compromise, Senate Democrats allowed a final vote on the merits of the re-nomination of Pricilla Owen. The Senate voted 55 to 43 to confirm Owen.
