Urge Senate Hearings Washington, DC (Wednesday, October 13, 2016)– More than 300 Newspaper Editorial Boards in all 50 States and D.C. have written at least 638 Editorials urging the Senate to hold hearings on President Obama's March 16, 2016 nomination of D.C. Circuit Chief Judge Merrick B. Garland to fill a Supreme Court vacancy. The following is a statement from Glenn Sugameli, a Defenders of Wildlife Senior Attorney who founded the nonpartisan Judging the Environment program on federal judicial nominations in 2001: “Editorials by more than 300 newspaper editorial boards from all 50 States and D.C. urging the Senate to hold hearings on Chief Judge Merrick Garland's nomination to the Supreme Court are included in our website's state-by-state compilation of excerpts and links.
